Step into Petco's aquatic realm and be captivated by our diverse assortment of freshwater inverts, a must-have for every home aquarium. The two main freshwater invertebrates we have at Petco are shrimp and snails. Both of these animals are important components of your freshwater aquarium’s ecosystem, because they eat common types of algae, animal matter, and excess fish food. In other words, freshwater shrimp and snails are great for helping to keep your tank clean!
Freshwater aquarium shrimp require daily feedings, but they typically get their food from algae or excess debris and fish food.
Just like any living creature in your aquarium, snails require regular feeding, a well maintained tank, and absence of predators.
Before shrimp are added to your new freshwater aquarium, a filter and heater should already be installed. Shrimp require a stable water quality and a temperature between 72 to 82°F.
That depends on the size of your tank. Freshwater shrimp will become stressed if they’re overcrowded and unable to move freely.
Their well-balanced diet typically consists of algae and fish or food debris. If there isn’t enough natural algae buildup, you can feed them algae discs.

What types of plants are suitable for a 24L tank with 2x shrimp, 3x snails, 2x Platies, 5x danios?
I want to get an apple snail or a mystery snail. I have an indoor storage container pond where I will be putting one or two goldfish in. It doesn't have a top, so can the snails crawl out? If they can, how can I avoid it? Also someone told me to quarantine it, how do i do that?
I have a betta fish. And recently noticed that there are tiny bugs living in the water. Some are the size of a grain of sand and some look like tiny white worms. What are they and how do I get rid of them?
Wat should I feed my soft shell turtle???
Hi, I’m having a problem with a tiny white bug infestation in my amphibians tanks, they arrived in damp substrate that came with a frog and now I can’t get rid of them. They are the same size as a spring tail but slow moving and round, maybe a mite? Any advice on how to get rid of them greatly appreciated as they keep coming back especially around damp areas
I’ve had a couple African dwarf frogs die and was recommended to treat with aquarium salt for the remaining frogs. I have 2 mystery snails in the tank and was wondering if aquarium salt is safe for them. I also have a betta and guppies in the tank.
My pet red eared slider Snappy is always sleeping and doesn't eat it's food pellets that I gave him. He runs towards the dry area when I put him in the water and he floats. I have seen some very small worms when I put him in the water.
