Come into Petco for a wide selection of rat cages and habitats to give your critter companion some secure sleeping quarters. Besides keeping your rodent’s roaming confined to one location, these habitats give your small pet a place to call their own. While rat cages come in a variety of shapes, sizes and styles, you can find the right one with a bit of knowledge.
Rats need several essential items in their cage in order to be healthy and happy. These items include a large exercise wheel, at least two hiding spots, a shallow water bowl, and plenty of chew toys. Additionally, it is important to make sure the cage is set up properly with adequate ventilation, no sharp edges, and a comfortable substrate for your rat to burrow into.
The size of your rat's cage will depend on how many rats you intend to house. Generally, it is recommended to provide at least two square feet of floor space per rat in the cage. Additionally, the cage should also have sufficient height to allow your rat to climb and explore. Providing a large enough cage with plenty of space and enrichment can help keep your rat happy and healthy.
The best cages for rats are ones that are large, secure, and easy to clean. Wire cages are a popular choice as they provide plenty of ventilation, allow your rat to climb and explore, and are also easy to clean. Make sure to choose a cage with a secure locking mechanism to keep your rat safe.

How do I clean my rats cage when she gives birth
My rats need new chew toys and I want to get the best ones I am open to all types
So I recently posted a pic of my hamsters new set up. People said that CritterTrail is too small for her. She has two cages and then tubes connecting them. She runs in her ball for 4 hrs a day with a break each hour for water and food. Should I make her a bin cage or keep the CritterTrails cage?
Best first aid essentials for rats?
I have four pet rats, about 7 months old. I've noticed recently that their pee is smelling EXTREMELY strong, not at all their usual cage smell. We've been having to change their bedding every day because the smell is burn your nose strong as if we've been letting it sit for days. We haven't changed their bedding type (we use recycled paper bedding). We recently changed their diet, though, as recommended by our usual vet. They are on oxbow rat pellets and weekly fruits & veggies. Help??
What type of mice breeds do we have in New Zealand ?
This isnt exactly about my pet being sick but can a rat and a chinchilla live together/play together?
Is this a wild rat or a rat bought from the store? And what type of rat is this
I recently bought my mouse from the store and she doesn't stop going in clockwise circles. She'll stop to eat food, but then continues on her spin. I've isolated her just in case it could be infectious to my other mouse. Is it just behavioral or could it be a health concern?
I've had my Male fancy mouse for 3 months. He has a 2 tier metal cage with an added external space. He has accessible pellet food and clean water. He also is sometimes given apple, pear, & carrot pieces. He is the only mouse, his aggressive brother was sent back one week into purchace. He doesn't like to exercise and has begun staying in one spot in his cage refusing to play even at night. He likes being petted and walking into my palm. I feel he is lethargic. What does he need & can I do?
