Feeding your feline is an important part of your day. Choosing a wholesome food with flavors and textures your cat loves is enough of a challenge—but which bowl is the best for your hungry pet? Believe it or not, a stainless steel cat water bowl or food bowl can be a real game-changer. Many pet parents love stainless steel cat bowls because of their durability and higher germ resistance. They are typically easy to clean, and they look modern and sleek in practically any living space.
Yes. In fact, stainless steel bowls are non-porous, so germs cannot penetrate deep into the surface, and this makes them more naturally resistant to built-up bacteria and more sanitary than some other options. While you should still clean your stainless steel cat bowls periodically, you can worry a little less about germ build-up when you go with steel over plastic.
The potential health benefits don’t stop there. Raised stainless steel cat bowls can make it easier for older cats to eat without straining their neck or needing to bend down. And a stainless steel slow feeder cat bowl is designed to make it more difficult for felines with weight or digestive issues to eat food faster than they should.
Cats—like people—may have their personal preferences when it comes to their eating setup. Some may not like the cold surface of a stainless steel bowl for their food, while others may prefer how cool it keeps the water in their bowl. There could be many reasons why a pet dislikes a bowl—stainless steel or plastic. However, many cats can quickly adapt to a stainless steel bowl without any issues.
Yes. In most cases, stainless steel cat food bowls and water bowls can be cleaned in a dishwasher. Just be careful not to use a harsh dish soap which may damage metal surfaces. When determining the right dishwasher settings for cleaning your pet’s steel bowls, always pay attention to the manufacturer’s instructions.

What is the best dog bowl material that is non toxic, going to stay clean, not get a film at the bottom and not harbor bacteria?
I've read that plastic bowls can cause cancer in dogs and cats. We recently had to put our cat to sleep due to lymph cancer. He was only 2 1/2 years old. My Vet said it was not the virus cancer. Now I feel responsible as I was feeding him out of plastic bowls.
Hi! I’m looking to purchase a dish soap that is suitable to clean my cat’s food bowl. Any recommendations for pet safe dish soaps? (Available in Singapore preferably)
My cat has horrible black chin acne. She only drinks out of ceramic and metal bowls. No plastic anywhere. Is this harmful? Are there home remedies I can do?
My cat has black specks on his chin. No red hot spots or fleas. I even checked the specks on wet tissue to make sure it’s not flea dirt. Is this cat acne? If so what could be the cause? His food bowls are stainless steel and his water bowl is ceramic. We haven’t changed his food or snacks either. I’m not sure how long he’s had it, but I noticed it this week. I’ve washed his chin with his shampoo and warm water but it keeps coming back everyday.
Hi! My cat had feline acne on the chin and it has flared up and started to bleed. The vet told us not to use plastic food bowls because bacteria gets on it (which we don’t- we use ceremic) and prescribed Viaderm to apply topically while using the cone because he rubs and licks it off. He is miserable with the cone on and then I realize it is made of plastic. All day his chin is rubbing against the plastic and he gets blood and puss on it. Will that harbor bacteria? Is it better to leave it on?
What kind of water fountain i can get for my cat?
My dog does not want to eat from his metal bowl anymore, we bought him a plastic one and for a while he ate but now he stop again. We got him a porcelain and still not eating. And my husband has feed him his soft food with a fork but he would not eat his hard food.
Nutro, Blue Buffalo, Wellness, Taste of the Wild or Rachel Ray Nutrish for dry cat food? Cat has no known allergies or health conditions. Open to other recommendations. Want high quality and natural food that is healthy
My puppy has been playing with his food bowl and water bowl for a while now, he broke his first bowls. I bought him new ones, but he just keeps on playing with them. Water is clean and he likes his food, so I don't see a problem. How can I make him stop?
Why does my pup kinda scratch the bowl of water
Are there any cat food toppers that I can use to get my cat to eat more, she stopped eating all dry food now she only eats wet food and she loves to lick off my coconut oil from my hand. Also, she doesn't drink her water unless it's moved in or near my bedroom so should I have more than one water bowl or leave the only one near me?
