No pet parent wants to deal with pests like fleas, ticks and worms, but these parasites are all too common in dogs. Preventing them is key to your dog’s health and wellness, and thanks to Simparica Trio, giving dog parasite medicine just got a whole lot easier. These dog flea pills and chewables not only help prevent and treat fleas but can also provide protection from heartworm disease, ticks, roundworms and hookworms.
Simparica Trio is a once-monthly chewable tablet that can treat existing flea and tick infestations and help prevent fleas, ticks, heartworm, roundworm and hookworm. It contains sarolaner, which kills fleas and ticks, moxidectin, which helps prevent heartworm disease and pyrantel, which treats and controls roundworm and hookworm.
Simparica Trio has been approved for dogs as young as 8 weeks and weighing as little as 2.8 lbs. However, it hasn’t been evaluated in pregnant and lactating dogs. It should also be used with caution in dogs who have seizures because the ingredient sarolaner has been associated with seizures, ataxia and tremors.
Most dogs won’t experience side effects. However, the most common were vomiting and diarrhea. In addition, before prescribing Simparica Trio, your veterinarian will perform a test to ensure your pup is heartworm negative because giving heartworm medicine to a dog that is already infected can be fatal. Consult your veterinarian if you think your dog is experiencing side effects and for general advice.
Yes—heartworm medicine for dogs is essential for all sizes, ages and lifestyles. Heartworm is transmitted through mosquito bites, and some pet parents think if their pup lives an indoor or city life, they don’t need to worry about heartworm. But it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Heartworm can be a devastating disease that leaves permanent damage on the lungs and heart and frequently results in death. And the cost of treating heartworm is far higher than preventing it in the first place.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures. Simparica Trio contains sarolaner, a member of the isoxazoline class, which has been associated with neurologic adverse reactions including tremors, ataxia, and seizures in dogs with or without a history of neurologic disorders. The safe use of Simparica Trio has not been evaluated in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs. The most frequently reported adverse reactions in clinical trials were vomiting and diarrhea. My 12 year old 14 lb yorkie ingested a double dose of simparica trio. Is he in danger
She's female and was spayed 2 months ago. She started having one pimple and not there are several. Would like to know what this is, it kind of looks like pimples filled with fluid only in her private area. She does take simparica trio, so not sure if this could be insect bites.
My dog has several red spots on belly with bumps in the middle (belly was shaved for spay 2 weeks ago). Found another one on her leg. Dog is on Simparica Trio (protection agaist heartworm disease, ticks & fleas, and roundworms & hookworms). Could this be an allergy or bites (in this case what could have caused the bites, so I know if I need to take further steps)?
My dogs are getting bitten up badly by fleas. They were previously on simparica trio which my vet said was the best and still did not stop the flea bites. This month I tried frontline plus shield, had my yard and house treated, washed all beddings. I’ve done everything I can think of but nothing has worked and suggestions to repel fleas from my Dogs.
Mexican vet gave dog simparica on Feb 4. Adopted her March 21. We don't have vet yet cuz of quarantine. Need scrip. for Simparica. She had anaplasma feb 4. Given doxciciina for 30 days. Can I use over counter flea and tick or have to be Simparica.
So I have a puppy and an adult dog I gave the puppy (6/7 months) the adult simparica trio drug and the adult one the Puppy one without realizing it. My mom had them out of cases and I thought they were the same it was the 11ib one and the 22-44 pound one. Will the puppy be ok? and what should I do for the older dog? Should I give her another dose?
It is safe to give my dog daily doses of Simparica and Omega 3? Also, in addition to Simparica, what can I apply in my dog skin affected due to hereditary mange?
Belly ate her own simperica trio pill (for dogs 22-44lb) and accidentally ALSO ate my other dog's simperica trio pill (for dogs 11-22lb). How bad is this for Belly? Something we need to go to the emergency vet for??
Is it ok to give jasper Simparica and interceptor brown together?
My dog has been itching and biting at a couple spots on his body since he was groomed a week ago. There seems to be smalls cuts where he’s bitting, not sure if they have been caused by him or not. He has just started taking simparica trio and got his rabies shot on September 25. Today is October 4. Not sure if it’s environmental allergies or something else going on. His food hasn’t been changed recently but new treats have been introduced. He’s never had any skin issues and I’ve had him a year.
Is it safe for me to use simparica oral flea medication and k9 advantix I topical flea medication together?
I gave my dog a double dose of simparica. It's the up to 44 lb dose and shes 37
