A UV sterilizer can be an effective tool with controlling bacteria and parasites. It is also very useful in pond applications to control free-floating algae. UV sterilizers are a form of mechanical filtration utilizing a germicidal fluorescent lamp that produces light at a wavelength of approximately 254 nanometers. To keep UV production as high as possible, it is recommended to change out UV sterilizer bulbs every 6-12 month. After 6 months the bulbs will start to lose their effectiveness.

I have a 20 gallon tank for my bearded dragon and I just need to know how many watts of UVB do I need
Is it safe to buy a UV Sterilizer Green killer filter for my turtles? The water gets dirty really fast and I've pretty much tried everything, but the algae keeps growing fast. The problem is that I've seen a lot of negative reviews on that filter, saying that it got their fish killed. Now, I've done some research on that and found out that that UV lights could damage both animals and humans, however the very few reviews that were written by turtle owners were positive. Is it totally safe?
I have recently used medication in my 50 gal freshwater fish tank with one 22 year old comet goldfish in it . the meds cured my fish but must have killed my beneficial Bacteria as now my established tank has been going through another nitrogen cycle. It's been four weeks now the ammonia us back to zero so is nitrite zero BUT my nitrates are now spiked about 80 and the water is cloudy. Did 2 partial water changes over the last 8 days. Will a UV sterilizer help ?? Please advise. Thanks Lina
My fish tank LED light broke. Is using an LED flashlight safe for the fish?

Is hydrogen peroxide safe to use on aquarium fish
I was wondering if there are any alternatives for my pet rabbit to get sunlight or UV light without bringing her outside. I want to make sure she gets an sufficient amount of vitamin D even if it is artificial UV light. I'm just concerned of the chance my rabbit is vitamin D deficient and was interested if I should invest in a UVB light bulb for her to compensate for her lack of sunlight.
I got a lED fish light for my fish tank and I only got one light for one side so far and where the light is its growing a brown algae really bad and the other side without the light isn't. Do certain lights cause algae. If so, what lights don't and what type of lighting is the best? I have two filters in my tank and it's only one side so I dont think it would be anything else
How to get remove all planaria worms (crawling our aquarium glass in a tiny size )from freshwater tank ?
If my juvenile slider turtle tank is next to a window, is UBV lighting nessesarry? (This is a wild turtle). And if it is a must, how long can they go without a UBV? (I'm am sending pics so you can see how far the tank is from the window, if you need it)
I have a turtle I got as a hatchling whose shell has started to curve. I’ve read this could be due to too much protein, too weak of uv/uvb lights, or a combination that makes him grow too fast for the shell to keep up. I’m going to the pet supply store to get a new bulb tomorrow and he eats feeder fish as well as a variety (gold fish food he steals, dry meal worms, pellets from two different brands) of dry foods. How can I help him better?
I had put an aquatic plant in my fish tank because I was told he would like it and eat it, but now he has black marks all over his body. I searched and found that it is chemical burns from ammonia due to the plant. How can I help get rid of the marks on him??
