A bird cage is a must-have for pet birds. While your feathered friend will spend most of their time outside of the cage interacting with you, it's important that they have a safe and comfortable place to retreat to when needed. Bird cages come in all shapes and sizes. The type of bird you have will determine what size cage is best for them. A parakeet or cockatiel will do well in a medium sized cage, while larger birds like Amazon parrots require an extra large sized cage—or even two smaller cages interconnected—to provide ample space to move around comfortably.

Liners, dishes, accessories and cage aprons should be removed, cleaned or replaced daily. Frequency of full-cage cleanings will depend on the type and number of birds you have. On a weekly or monthly basis, remove your bird(s) and place them in a safe area, preferably in a secondary cage. Remove all items and use a bird-safe disinfectant to scrub soiled areas like perches, blocks, toys, cage aprons and flooring. Allow everything to dry and replenish food and water before returning your pet bird to their cage.
