Interceptor Plus for Dogs: Heartworm Prevention and Medication

With Interceptor Plus, your dog can benefit from 5-worm protection delivered in one, tasty, chicken-flavored monthly chew. Interceptor Plus for dogs is designed to help prevent heartworm disease, while also protecting against common (and potentially deadly) intestinal parasites—hookworms, roundworms, whipworms and tapeworms.

Interceptor Plus combines two powerful active ingredients to provide such broad-spectrum protection. Veterinarian-trusted milbemycin oxime is used for the prevention of heartworm disease in dogs, as well as the treatment and control of adult hookworm, roundworm and whipworm infections. While praziquantel is proven effective against 4 species of adult tapeworms. Interceptor Plus protects against two more types of worms than other competing brands.

You can find Interceptor for dogs in four different dosing sizes here at Petco. Consult your veterinarian to find out what dosage is right for your dog. You’ll need an active prescription from your licensed veterinarian that’s dated within the past 12 months to purchase Interceptor Plus from Petco. With year-round broad-spectrum parasite protection from Interceptor Plus, your dog will be ready—and protected—for their next adventure.

FAQs About Interceptor Plus for Dogs

Interceptor Plus helps to protect against five different types of worms in dogs and puppies 6 weeks and older, weighing 2 pounds or more. Each tasty, chicken-flavored prescription tablet provides heartworm disease prevention and protection against hookworm, roundworm, whipworm and tapeworm infections for a full month.

Both are prescription oral treatments that help provide prevention and protection against four parasitic worms—heartworms, roundworms, hookworms and whipworms. Interceptor Plus contains the additional active ingredient praziquantel—which targets tapeworms—making it a 5-worm treatment.

Because Interceptor Plus is an oral treatment, it can take up to 1 to 2 days to be fully absorbed in your pet’s system and begin working.
