Ammonia Alert is an innovative color device for continuously detecting and monitoring toxic free ammonia. A sensor changes reversibly from yellow to green to blue, relative to the ammonia concentration. No test kits, chemicals, or procedures are needed. The device detects less than 0.05 mg/L (ppm) free ammonia and alerts you to the #1 killer before any sign of stress. It lasts over a year. This product is not recommended for use at acid pH. Marine or freshwater use.

Excellent alert, works advertised…I was certain it was broken, kept staying light greeen..bought 2 sperate Ammonia tests and they all matched. Water changed and bam, turned yellow! Checked with other tests…ammonia at zero…love this little tester

Bought one a month ago while also using a water test kit. Unfortunately it doesn't work. It gave no indication of ammonia eventhough the test kit showed 2.0ppm.

Works well so far. The monitoring center color changer doesn’t match the diagnostic, colored, outer PPM safety alert pie chart. You have to average/guess.

The concept is fantastic. But skip the grief and just get a water test kit for ammonia. I am cycling a new tank and noted than even when my api test kit told me that ammonia was 0.25ppm, this little guy didn't change color at all. I was hoping that this patch would tell me when the cycle was starting but, it did not.

The dot didn't change color. Ammonia level was high lost 3 fish did a 50% water change. Just decorative but doesn't work. Waste of money.

Unsure if it works at all and afraid to trust it. Test strips said there was ammonia in water, but this says safe. Was looking for a product that would allow for less frequent strip testing.

Ok I have a 55 gallon tank and I've always had small tanks recently I decided one 55 gallon is good enough and I have never had a master kit should I start there 1st

    I would absolutely start with an API master kit. Make sure you get the correct kit for your water type. They have a freshwater, saltwater, and pond test kit. Even experienced aquarists use the kit. It is worth every penny.

Can this be used to detect ammonia in dog urine? I want to use in my kennel.

    I wouldn't think so. It has to be immersed in water to detect ammonia in the water. I've tested this in pure ammonia just to make sure it does give an alert. If it could be activated by the presence of ammonia in the air, it would have turned color before I immersed it in the ammonia. However, if you collected the dog urine in a receptacle and placed the alert in that, I'm sure it would work.
