Veterinarian authorized products ship only after Petco receives an authorization from your vet. We will not need to reach out to your vet or you if the authorization includes refills. When all available refills are used or the authorization expires, we will reach out to your vet to obtain a new authorization. For new authorizations, we will attempt to reach your vet for a total of 5 days. If your vet does not respond within 5 days, we will then reach out to you for a total of 3 days. Questions
My cat recently got put on the Hill's Diet z/d hypoallergenic food. Will these treats work with that diet?
How is this different from the hydrolyzed food? Does it taste different? It took a bit of time before my tummy sensitive boy would eat his hydrolyzed food.
- My guess would be it's the same formula in a different shape. My cats love the treats. I had the opposit experience with the food. One cat loved it so much she was overeating and I had to limit what was available to her.

Hello. I am currently feeding my 1 year old cat Royal Canin Selected Protein PR Dry Cat Food due to his food allergies. All is good and well with the food but I was wondering if anybody had suggestions for treats? He cannot have chicken or seafood of any sort. I've tried PureBites and he wouldn't touch them. Any brands of treats that you guys recommend? I am also open to making homemade treats if that's a good place to start.
Our 1 1/2 year old female ragdoll feline started loosing patches of fur for last 2 weeks. No scabs/raw spots on skin. Vetinarian concludes not fleas or ringworm. No known environmental changes or new house products. Now starting Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein Adult HP for 2-3 weeks in case it's food allergies. It's $50 for 7.7 lbs. Is there a less expensive equivalent Purina or other brand?? Thanks from Florida.
Best low-carb wet food for cats?
In January our cat was diagnosed with crystals in his urine. He was put on Hills Urinary Control food. For a short time I was able to get Royal Canin Treats for him. Then the vets said they couldn't approve them until he was seen in their office. He was doing great on his diet and loved the treats. We can't afford to take him to a vets just to see if he can have those treats. Why do they have to be "Vet Approved"? They are safe and keep the crystals from forming again.
One of our male cats recdently had a blockage and we had to take him to emergency. We got there in the nick of time, he was going into kidney failure! Naturally he now has to be on special prescription food. The Hill's c/d he doesn't like at all. The Royal Canin he tolerates but will hardly eat it. I always try to mix something else in but it's just a chore to get him to eat now and the poor guy is hungry. He does love Royal Canin's dry SO food and treats. What else can I feed him?
Hi just curious if you know of any treats or food toppers that would be ok for a cat with kidney disease (early kidney but already on a kidney diet). I happened upon a raw freeze dried treat that I used as a topper on the kidney diet and tony loved it but I know it’s probably too high in protein. Thx!
My male cat is almost 14. I know he is starting kidney problems due to the extra water he drinks at this point. and a bit thinner. lots of energy still. I read they need at least 50% protein, I give him wet and dry which i know is not good, but lots of wet and freeze dried chicken too, vit with dig enzymes. Can you suggest the best Wet high protein food and anything else from Petco?
My cat has early stages of kidney disease. We have put her on a hills science diet prescription food and she's doing well on it. But I wonder about treats. I don't want to mess with what she eats to much cause her levels are stabled. But I'd like to give her something once in awhile. I tried baking her food into treats and she didn't like it. Are there any treats you recommend for cats with kidney issues? What about human food as treats?
I feed my cat Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Early Support Chicken Canned Cat Food, and order it from chewy.com, but the are out of stock and vet doesn't carry it. She has only 10 cans left. Is there any other place to get this food quickly?

Looking for 3rd opinion: My 17 y/o cat was diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease. Vet said she shouldn't get any treats while on the new Hill's k/d diet. This seemed extreme, so I called my pet insurance vet line for a 2nd opinion. The nurse there said it should be OK to give my cat treats occasionally. For context, we give her small pieces of meat or let her lick a yogurt container 2-3 times a week. I'm reluctant to take away her joys at her age but don't want to jeopardize her health. TIA!
