For the prevention of heartworm disease, Revolution must be applied monthly, preferably on the same date each month. Drs. Foster and Smith recommends (and our guarantee requires) that Revolution be used year round, although some veterinarians may recommend using it only during the mosquito season. If used seasonally, the first dose must be applied within 30 days of the pet's first exposure to mosquitoes. The last dose must be applied within 30 days after the pet's last exposure to mosquitoes. To control fleas, apply the first dose one month prior to the expected start of the flea season. Part the hair on the back of the pet at the base of the neck in front of the shoulder blades. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube 3-4 times to empty the entire contents on the skin. Do not massage into skin or apply to broken skin. Do not apply when the haircoat is wet.

I won't order prescriptions from Petco again

I ordered Revolution for my cat the same day (Wednesday) it was prescribed. It took til Friday to hear from Petco that they'd submitted the prescription request to my vet. A day after that, I got a message that said they were having difficulty reaching my vet and would "continue to keep trying" to contact my vet. I called the vet first thing Monday -- they never got a fax from Petco. I called Petco who then re-faxed, but I thought they were going to "keep trying to contact" my vet all along? They didn't do this until I called. In other words, they faxed twice, once that initial Wednesday, and once that Monday that I called. In my trying to sort this out, Petco kept directing me to the vet; The vet directed me to Petco, as they were not receiving any faxes from them -- very frustrating. I don't even know if my order is still in effect. I went ahead and purchased Revolution from another online store without issue, but it cost me a lot more. I won't order prescription products from Petco again.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Revolution is more expensive then other flea and tick medications but when I've tried others I've learned the hard way. Revolution always works for my cat. No fleas and no side effects.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Your service is absolutely terrible. I need flea medicine for my cat. Every time I try to order the medicine, you come up with a different excuse as to why I can’t have it. You have never once ever let me renew a prescription without bringing my cat in for a checkup, even if shots aren’t expired. The excuse this time is that my cat isn’t a patient!! Really?!?! Seriously worst service ever.

No, I do not recommend this product.

In my opinion it’s the best option in terms of effectiveness & I like the fact that it’s a pharmaceutical rather than a pesticide.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 6 of 6 Questions
Sort by: Newest Answers

So why the low rating if you would recommend this product?

What are the ingredients? Does it kill ear mites as well?

    1. The active ingredient in Revolution is selamectin. It kills fleas, ticks, and ear mites.

Why is it prescription only? I was under the impression that only kitten revolution was prescription only

    1. The flea prevention portion of the medication (Selamectin) does not require a prescription, but the heartworm portion (Sarolaner) does. If you're just looking for the flea part, you don't need a prescription. Just get the regular Revolution vs Revolution Plus.

How soon after applying this can you give your cat a bath?

    1. The package states 24 hours for a cat.

Can this be applied to Sphynx -the hairless cat?

    1. I don’t know why it couldn’t be used. It goes directly onto the skin ...not the fur... between the shoulder blades and upper back.

Does it prevent ticks on cats?

    1. Revolution "Plus" for Cats does kill ticks, but the product I'm seeing here does not make that claim.
