My female poodle Chihuahua is 11 yrs old and about 11 pounds. She was diagnosed with luxating patellas when she was 3. Our bedroom is upstairs and the staircase is steeper than average and she sleeps with us. She frequently yelps or limps after using the stairs. How can I make it easier for her to get up and down the stairs? I don't want to leave her alone downstairs all night. She's too old.
we have a 20 pound rat terrier mix in excellent health, not overweight. She is 11 yrs old and we were trying to fin d a carrier like a backpack to put her in for our long walks, when she gets tired. There are so many to choose from. I like the ones that we strap on the front of the human, and her legs stick out at the top and bottom just like a real baby. However I am concerned that the position might put too much pressure on her back end. What can you recommend?
Hi I have dog named Rose for the paday she has not been wanting to do that much and she is walking in a crouched position and has trouble getting up the steps to the porch.
5 yr old mixed spayed female normally strong healthy has difficulty getting up, slught stiffness observed over last 48 hrs.
We're considering a dog for adoption; likely basset-beagle mix (foster maybe some terrier). We have three staircases in our 4-floor townhouse. Concerned that stairs would be bad for his back if he shares that problem with Basset hounds. Do you think he will have issues based on these measurements, and the photo attached? 15" Neck; 15" Front paw/leg to shoulder area; 15" Rear paw/leg to shoulder area; 27" Chest circumference; 23 1/2" Base of neck to base of tail.
My dog is 11 years old and is a miniature dachshund. she is about 10lbs. she can't go up our stairs or go on the chairs. It hurts her to pick her up and I think her back and legs are painful. Please help, we love her dearly.
I have a 14 year lod 160 lb Malamute and my question is she having problem walking due to I believe her hips. She'shas trouble walking up stairs but she can walk some what ok. Is there something I can die to comfort her.
15 year old dog fallen downstairs, no broken bones just a slightly swollen ankle and slight limp when walking. Think it's just a minor sprain advice please trying to get him to rest but toilet needs mean he insists on doing his normal walk backwards and forwards prior to going out. Advise please. Thanks.
We just found out that our 11 year old has stenosis. Not much to do be keep him comfortable. He has trouble with steps, getting up after laying down. Because it is different than arthritis, I do not want to create anymore pain for him then necessary. Would you recommend a harness and what type? He is 65 lbs, looks more golden but is a shepherd/golden mix. Thank you!
16 year old with severe back problems. No medications. Surgery will not work. Now problems with back legs not walking as usual. We take up and down stairs or steps. Eating as usual. Just want to keep him comfortable as he is not giving up. Doesn’t really appear to be in severe pain, but a little. Would like something for the inflammation. Sleeps most of the day and night. Thank you for your help. Just can’t put down right now as he is not at that point yet.
14.5 yr old lab healthy except for osteoarthritis. had erlychiosis 3X, 2X hospitalized, in 2015. pretty stiff walking, does not do stairs, have to lift her to car. on glucosamine/chroin for 5 years, rimadyl 100mg for 3. big problems laying down, circles several times, sometimes aborts her lay down and walks away, or gets halfway down and falls the rest. laying down harder than getting up. good appetite, bowel and kidneys fine. what to do? change NSAID? add tramadol? what is best supplement?
My dog is old now and has hip issues that require we help her up. I'm looking into harnesses to make both our lives easier but am not sure which style would be more comfortable and less damaging. I can only get a few styles in my country (attaching pics) and they all look painful to me. Which of these would be best? Or would any or none be a good choice? Would one wrapping around her legs be better than one wrapping around her belly? Thanks!
