Unfortunate Formula Change

Shanna

The old chicken recipe was the first soft food one of my cats liked. However, he didn't like the new recipe, ate a bit with apparent reluctance and then threw up for a day. The other cat would eat it but I picked out all the dark blobs and areas before serving it to him. I was able to get a good supply of the old recipe from a few stores and am hoping that Merrick will return to the old recipe before we run out. The change in formula appears to be a business decision comparable to Coke changing its flavour a number of years ago.

I just started buying it for them a few weeks ago and they love it just as much as fancy feast. they enjoy the consistency of the food, and like that the food stays soft even after refrigerating. I wish the LID line came in a 24-pack in stores though.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Bring back the old formula

The 2019 formula was revised in 2022. The older formula had pea protein. It was a perfect consistency for chopping into each cat’s prefered size and smelled very good like chicken. The newer formula does not have any pea protein and has a stronger smell I suspect is from flax. The cats won’t eat the newer formula and I cleaned out all local stores of the older 2019 labels.

My cat needs the old formula back!!

Hungry Kitty

Let me add my voice to the chorus of those whose cats will not eat the new formula of Merrick Limited Ingredient Grain Free Chicken Recipe Pate. Due to allergies and a picky palette, our kitty ate nothing but this type of canned food since we discovered it. Once she started on it, all of her allergy and digestive issues resolved beautifully. And she loved it! I have not yet found another type she will even try. If the old formula of ingredients is more expensive to manufacture, could you market it as ‘premium’, sell it at a higher cost, and offer it again? Please, please, PLEASE??? Cats (and their owners) all over the USA are missing it terribly!!

My cat loves this food. I'm glad I tried Merrick brand cat food. I like having the repeat order, too, from Petco. With so much to do every day, it makes my life just that much easier not to have to worry about running low on cat food.
