I bought this product for my baby chicks, and it works perfectly. They are able to drink out of it without the threat of falling in. They also have a hard time kicking their bedding into it which is a big plus. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to buy.

Only issue was the size; I had purchased one from a local store and liked it so much I saw these on Petco and wanted more. However, the ones Petco offered were smaller. They still work great just have to fill more often.

Unfortunately the quality of this product has declined substantially. I purchased a couple of these three years ago and they were terrific -- solid plastic and easily fit together. Having broken one over the winter (my fault), I looked to replace it with the same item. I was so disappointed. The plastic is now thin and weak and the threads that connect the container to the base are sloppily milled, making it almost impossible to fit the pieces together. Can no longer recommend this product.

I think it's great that it can be used for feed or water. I'm currently using it to feed crumbles to 7 Bantams. I sit it into a plastic lid from a 5 gal. bucket and don't get the shavings in it like with the other smaller feeders. I also much prefer the size of this one. If I didn't use the plastic lid, I'd put it up on a piece of wood like I do the water jar.

I ordered two of these feeders, who ever came up with the idea of having them be reversable was brilliant! They are very nice looking as well, not just a boring plane white canister. They are a good size for more water and food. Really love them and would recommend.

We only use these as waterers only, using two for 7 chickens, changing water daily is easy. As for the person upset stuff gets in the water, put waterer on a cinder block or the like! Not only does it keep the water cleaner, the chickens do not have to bend over to get water only to have to raise their heads to swallow :)
