Feeding Hints: Make sure feeders are always full and accessible; free from snow, moisture, and other debris. Tube and covered platform feeders are the most efficient ways of offering Kaytee Waste Free Wild Bird Food. To avoid conflict between the larger cardinals and blue jays and the smaller goldfinches, nuthatches, and pine siskins, place Kaytee Waste Free Wild Bird Food in a tube feeder a short distance from the covered platform feeder. For best viewing, place feeders a short distance from the house, not far from a bush or tree. Birds like to first fly to cover and look around before approaching the feeder. Feeders should be cleaned at least twice a year. Be sure to provide a constant supply of fresh water, especially during the harsh winter months.

Birds Love but not waste free!

Be aware that the tiny millet leaves tiny hulls behind on the ground! All my ground feeders love this - mostly doves, sparrows, juncos and the corn is the last to be eaten. But everyone loves something in this blend. I only wish the millet was hulled because it leaves behind little pieces thst thr birds chip off. Also makes it harder for birds to find food next time, they have to sort through the mess to find actual seeds. So cleanup is required.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Not Waste Free for me

BobSeattle

As others noted it's not waste free here in the Pacific Northwest. I bought it because of the smaller size feed, which flow through my feeders better than others with larger 'chunks'. But the birds pick through for the sunflower seeds and toss the rest on the ground. A very large pile of "waste" ends up underneath.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for asking. According to those that have responded, regular visitors such as the Sparrows, Finches, and Towhees, the semi-regulars like the Doves, and the non-bird species the Squirrels you have a 100% satisfactory rating! (Nocturnal visitors, the Opossums, Rats, and, cockroaches have not been included in this casual poll.) Additionally, from my perspective, the price is acceptable. I believe that I'll be purchasing the Kaytee Wild Bird Food again.

Yes, I recommend this product.

    Is it non sprouting?

    1. It germinates and leaves tons of weeds.

Is the feed small enough to fit though a small wire finch feeder?

    1. We recommend a smaller seed or blend that is specifically for small wire finch feeders, like the Kaytee Thistle Seed Wild Bird Food, found here: https://bit.ly/2PqP8Kz

Why do you include millet? I've read that it's a cheap filler seed. Also, what is canary seed?

    1. I understand Barbies question. Millet is Indeed a filler. Sparrows like and are a pest bird. Song birds toss this FILLER to the ground as they do Not want. Throw Millet out in the wintertime when food is less available. Then it will eaten. en.
