I purchased two of these. One for my forever cold cat and one for my older dog. They both climbed right on and didn't move for awhile.

Bought for stray/feral cat shelter. Only very mild heat ONLY after cat lays on it. I wanted "always on" heat so the cats knew there was warmth inside the shelter and it would attract them in. But this isn't even very warm after they've laid on it awhile. Had bought 2 and had opened one so I couldn't return it. Luckily I had tried that one before opening the other and could return one. But wasted about $30 on the one useless one. Being that it's electric, it should be on when you plug in. This is nothing more than those non electric ones that have the reflectix inside.

No, I do not recommend this product.

You'll notice that the K&H heated bed may not feel warm to the touch when your pet is not on the bed. That is normal! The surface of your K&H Heated Pet Bed will remain around 10°F to 15°F above the ambient air temperature when not in use by your pet. It will only warm to about 102°F (which is the natural body temperature of dogs and cats) when your pet is on the bed. If the temperature in your home is 70°F, the surface of the pet bed will be around 80 degrees. Since your body temperature is 98.6°F, the bed will not feel warm to the touch.<br /><br />You can test your K&H Pet Products Heated Pet Bed by placing a large pillow on top of it. After about 20 minutes, feel under the pillow. Ive recently bought the tempurpedic bed for my standard poodle. He usually lies on our furniture as a bed. Weve tried other brands but Howie didnt seem too interested or comfy. With his new bed, Howie is cozy and it was under $100!!

Was too small for the kennel I needed to use it in, returned it never even tried it out
