Something changed with this kibble, and not for the better.

Stellasowner

Loved this kibble for over 8 years. Opening a fresh bag the aroma was excellent. The kibble was light brown. Definitely 5 stars. Lately I'm experiencing the total opposite, and that's why I'm now giving it 2 stars. When I opened the last 2 bags, that wonderful aroma was gone. The kibble was a darker brown. My pup is reluctant to eat it. What happened?? I called the company, and they basically said they will look into it. Something changed. If I can smell and see the difference, my pup surely can, and she's not liking it anymore.

Consumer Affairs
Thank you for reaching out to us. We want to assure you that we maintain the highest standards of quality control across our manufacturing facilities, the ingredients we use, and our finished products. Our process includes rigorous analytical testing of both the incoming ingredients and the finished products to ensure that we deliver a high-quality product. These measures are in place to guarantee that our products are safe and nutritious for your pets. We produce thousands of pounds of food in each manufacturing run, which can sometimes lead to slight color variations between different batches or even within the same batch. We want to reassure you that these color differences have no impact on the nutritional value of the food. While most pets will enjoy the food with the same enthusiasm, we acknowledge that more sensitive pets might notice the change. Some possible reasons for color differences include natural variations in the raw ingredients. Our products are primarily made from natural sources, which naturally vary in color. For example, chicken meal can range from light tan to dark brown, and corn proteins can vary from yellow to orange-tan. If either ingredient leans toward the darker end of the spectrum, the overall product may appear darker. We value your feedback, and your information will be included in our reporting database. This data is regularly analyzed to identify common issues for further investigation. Rest assured, if there are any issues, Hill’s is committed to investigating and taking appropriate action.

Kibble too Hard

Vet prescribed this for my 12 yr old rescue dog who had horrible stomach issues after surgery. It almost immediately stopped the horrible diarrhea and stomach bleeding. However, my dog has few teeth left (was in horrible condition when rescued as a stray) and this kibble size is ok but HARD AS A ROCK. She has a hard time breaking them up to eat and I'm afraid she will break a tooth. I tried soaking in water which works but 1 cup of food takes 1 cup of water and 2 hours to soak to make it soft. I tried breaking it up in a Vitamix blender and it couldn't do anything to it. Vet suggest I look for similar food but in small bites. Maybe Adult Sensitive Stomach & Sensitive Skin Small Bites?

Just Right!

Our 6 month old Smooth Collie puppy has turned out to have a very sensitive stomach and digestive tract. After working with our vet and testing several other foods, the Hill's SD id has turned out to be just right for our Mazie. She loves the food and her entire GI tract is happy, thus her humans are happy. We have our bouncy, energetic puppy back!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Our puppy had digestive issues since we brought her home. We did bloodwork and tested for parasites but everything was negative. We decided to try ID and our pup is doing great and she really likes the kibble!

Dog likes the food

Vet recommended this food for our 5 year old terrier mix, he was having digestive issues with other foods. This seems to work well and he likes it. Of course we mix in a little extra cooked plain chicken and/or beef as well that we cook (very small amount). Has a nice smell and is pretty fresh. You can find deals on it as well if you look.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Thank you for your feedback. Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Care will contain our ActivBiome+ Technology, which is a proprietary blend of prebiotic fibers including ground pecan shells. In a pecan cracking plant, the pecan shell receives water washings, a 180 degree hot water wash and subsequent drying after separation from pecan meats. There is no warning on the bag concerning nut meat contamination as this level is expected to be in the low parts per million level.

We have been using this product for Many Many years. We have a 14 yr old dog that's had stomach issues since a puppy and this food works great for him. We have 2 other dogs that eats it also, because it's good for digestive system and to buy different types of dog food is too expensive as this food is very expensive. Other than price , it's a great food

Is there just one Digestive ID food even for a 25 wk old 13 lb puppy?

  1. According to the package feeding instructions, this Digestive Care I/d food can be given to dogs at any age (less than 4 months/2 pounds up to adult).  I can tell you, it has helped tremendously with our Great Dane’s food sensitivity that came about later on in life.

Is this the same or similar to Hill's Prescription Diet Dry Dog Food, Veterinary Diet, Gastrointestinal Biome Digestive/Fiber Care, Chicken? It seems close, but not exact. And at these prices, I don't want to just buy it.

  1. I don't know! I would go to the Hills website to check that out and maybe even call Hills customer service.

My veterinarian said to give 1,778 kcal/day to our dog, but I can’t find the kcal per serving in the package. Please give me kcal per cup.  Thanks!

  1. Look on Hills web site search product name and it will have feeding instructions and another tab will have caloric or call the vets office and ask how many cups to give.

what serving size for a 50 pound puppy

  1. Since Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Care Chicken Flavor Dry Dog Food must be prescribed by a veterinarian so should the feeding instructions.  Ask the vet who prescribed it.

Is there a time limit my dog can eat I'd? He likes it so I would like to keep him on it.

  1. it depends of veterinary prescription. i have a dog who eat from 2 years old. he is now 6 years old.

Where is this food made?

  1. Thank you for your question. All our foods that are sold in the United States are made in the United States. Hill's Pet Nutrition
