Great deshedding brush

sallam

I bought this for my Frenchie who sheds more than I thought he would. This helped tremendously with hair throughout the apartment. His coat was noticeably shinier and softer after using this brush. The brush itself has a nice weight to it and feels like it's really good quality.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Best brush I’ve used! Some things to mention - make sure to get the right brush, they have different ones for short/long hair and small/med/large dogs. You should only use it 1x a week for short hair and 2x for long hair. This is a deshedder which is different than your normal brush. Normal brushing can be daily depending on the hair. Do not be too rough with this brush. If short hair you could cut your dog if too aggressively used. This works great for my dog!

Yes, I recommend this product.

This device is really good at reducing shedding in labs. Warning, you just need to be careful in how hard you "brush" so as hot to cut the dog's skin. And don't use it more than once or twice a week. I wish I knew about it sooner.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I have tried over 4 different brushes. My dog is a pyrenees mix that has a thick undercoat. Nothing would come off him when brushing before. This brush is expensive but it's an absolute blessing. So easy to use, dog loved it, just laid there as mounds of hair came off. Must have!!!!

Yes, I recommend this product.

The worst tool to buy for your pets

This product is absolutely awful!!!! Please don’t buy this and use it on your animal! Furminator is a tool that acts a a razor so essentially you are take off your pets top coat of hair when that’s not even part of the coat that sheds it’s the bottom coat. In the long run you’ll ruin your pets hair causing it to mate and causing your pet not to shed properly and making them super uncomfortable. Please do your pets a favor and never buy any furminator deshedding brush. (Recommended: metal pet hair rakes, metal bristle brush)

No, I do not recommend this product.

Not safe but worked

It got the job done… but despite me being super careful my pup got sliced. I got all of her undercoat out but she was nicked. Not just a little. She bled and I felt horrible. The “guard” didn’t work. I used it like normal. I’ll use a regular comb next time.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I had a black handled furminator with a yellow head that was about 2 1/2" wide. It has lost teeth & might hurt my 85 lb. yellow lab. I have a green furminator that works well, but it doesn't hold the hair in, it just flies all over the place. suggestion

  1. Tools with broken teeth should be discarded. For help with the FURminator tool please contact us at PetSupport@spectrumbrands.com.

I have a German Shepherd mix, she’s almost exactly 50 pounds and parts of her coat are longer than 2 inches, other parts shorter. Do I need the medium or large, and the long hair or short hair brush?

  1. I have a German shepherd. I just got a long haired cat one. Odd but it was $10 at tjmaxx. I think they’d all work. It worked great.  Especially on the fuzzy fur

Would this product be good for my French bulldog

  1. We use it on our lab/pit and our domination/boxer. It works great. Don’t push down too hard because they don’t have a lot of fur. You don’t want to hurt their skin with it.  Others works great! We get out a lot of hair.

would a medium be big enough for my shiba inu?

  1. Medium would be perfect for a Shiba. I use a medium size on my 80 lb lab mix and my friend's Shiba sized beagle mixes.

Would this be good for a beagle? His coat is short but dense.

  1. I have an older Basset/Beagle who is constantly shedding. We use it each day for a few minutes before one of our walks. Amazing! The yard looks like someone ran a dog through a paper shredder (minus the gore). Make a Huge difference in the hair I have to clean up in the house and she feels better too!

Would this work great on west high land terrier? Or would I be better off with the one for long hair?

  1. This is a great tool for your westie. For any longer hairs you may also want a finishing comb or pin brush. So that we can answer your other FURminator questions please contact us at PetSupport@spectrumbrands.com.
