I now have owned 4 of these things. We have adopted 2 female feral kitties, a mother and daughter. They both lived in the wild for the first 6 years of their lives and sharpened their claws on the trees in our woods. We brought them inside during a blizzard 3 years ago and they don't go out anymore. They both have razor sharp claws and i keep several scratching posts around the house for them to work out on, instead of the furniture! I bought the first one because it was about the cheapest thing i could find and i wasn't sure if they would even use it. They loved it and used it several times a day apiece and it lasted about 8 months. The one is a brat and worked on the same spot of the rope til it broke. I went in search of another and was pleasantly surprised that it was cheaper than the first. This time i got one for around $12 and the 2nd for half off!! The one is in a location where i rotate it 90 degrees every couple of weeks and they last 6 to 8 months. The other one is where i can't rotate it, so when they wear it out, i undo it and flip the post upside down and screw it back in and they scratch away till it gives up. I've seen reviews on these things where they arrive broken etc, which is really the fault of the shipper, not the post. i received 1 out of the 4 broken and had to work on it, but i was going to relocate the post from the middle to the edge anyway cus the girls like to lay on the carpet next to the post in the basement anyway. If you are handy with tools and have a set of torx or "star" sockets, you'll be fine, otherwise send it back if it arrive broken. I would give them 5 stars but the first one came in with some really thick rope and it held up like a champ to these razor claws. the last 3 have come in with this real thin rope barely much thicker than string, they might be fine for normal kitties, but the razor twins destroyed the last couple in about 6 months. as long as the price stays in the $12 range i will continue to buy them

Cats love it and they use it alot. It's nice and tall so they can stretch and scratch!

my cats love it.made good.quality.she uses it more than i thought.
