Clindamycin is given orally. If using a tablet or pill form, you must make sure your pet swallows some water after taking the medication, or the medication may cause damage to the esophagus. Do not use milk. Cats should have at least a teaspoon of water. Try offering your cat water flavored with tuna water or other liquid your cat likes.

Is there a way to get clindamycin for a dog without prescription? I have a mini-dachshund who is prone to infections in her mouth, and she’s developing one now. My vet prescribes this every time, but is unavailable, and I can’t afford the emergency vet right now.
clindamycin and augmentin pills are same? Can these both treat bacterial infection of skin ? Actually my dog a yr ago had bacterial infection and vet prescribed augmentin with terbinafine while running course he was all fine and he again had bacterial infection and this time vet prescribed clindamycin with terbinafine but this time while doing course on second day onwards he started to feel having gas and potty Color also went dark black brownish as soon i stop potty Color got ok

My dog had oral malignant melanoma and is currently taking tramadol, clindamycin, augmentin, and gabapentin twice a day as well as meloxicam once a day. His vet refilled all of his meds earlier today but I just noticed that his clindamycin has been doubled from 75mg twice a day to 150mg twice a day, and the tramadol was doubled from 1 (50mg) tablet once daily to twice daily. Are the clindamycin and tramadol safe at these doses? My dog weighs 25lbs. Could this be a mistake?
My cat Callie is much better after a very bad skin infection. Doc put her on Clindamycin long term. Wondering if you think this safe due to esophagus trouble it causes? She was on Clavamox which worked good too. Would Clavamox be better long term then this drug? He only switched to Clindamycin because it’s what he had in stock for longer term as she was on liquid Clavamox which is only a week at a time. Said he can get the pills of Clavamox if I wanted him to. Wondering which is safer long term.
My Sharp-pei weights 50 pounds. My vet prescribed 500 mg Cephalexin twice daily for 32 days for a bacterial skin condition. The dosage seems correct, but the doration of 32 days (56 capsules seems too long. She has now had 22 days of treatment. Should I continue or discontinue?
