Capstar (nitenpyram) is a fast-acting flea tablet for dogs and cats. A single dose of Capstar (nitenpyram) starts killing fleas within 30 minutes and achieves greater than 90% effectiveness against adult fleas within 4 hours for dogs and 6 hours for cats. This oral flea tablet treats flea infestations in dogs, puppies, cats and kittens 2 pounds of body weight or greater and 4 weeks of age or older. Capstar kills adult fleas that may cause flea allergy dermatitis. It is safe to give as often as once a day if your pet gets re-infested with fleas and can be given with or without food.

I was going crazy trying to find something that wasn't as expensive as the veterinarian. I have multiple fur babies and have to buy 8 packs at a time and it has been really convenient and affordable but now the prices are going up aggressively and now I feel anxiety that I'm not going to be able to continue using it.... praying they lower them so that I can afford to keep them.

Purchase on a Thursday, Had to give a second pill on a Sunday and looks like I'm going to have to give another. The flea comb removed 4, very active, fleas. My 8 lb dig us miserable

    Can this be used if you have already applied frontline on Sunday but it was before fleas? There were none before he was just due for his monthly application but I recently may have found one on his neck.

      I think it only lasts a day. Maybe two. It just kills all the fleas on the animal, in about an hour or so, I believe. But the mfg. claims it an be given daily.

        It only kills live fleas, but it works very quickly...about 1/2 hour and anything on the animal is dead. You will still have to treat the environment.

            1 each. It works for 24 hrs. If you seen anymore after 24 hrs give them another pill. I've given my cats 1 each day while cleaning my entire house to make sure that they are no eggs or larvae left on the floors, furniture or in the carpet that can hatch and recreate more fleas to tackle. It worked out well for me. I hope this helps.

          can you use capstar as well as a topical product such as zodiac or k9advantage 11 for dogs and a topical product for cats?

            This is a "short term" solution to help with infestation to get them off the dog or cat. You must still clean the pets bedding and if they are inside pets, you must also treat carpets or set off bug bombs in the case of large infestations. You should also give the dog or cat a monthly dose of your choice of flea treatment. This product is for getting rid of the "live" fleas immediately.
