what is the statistical probability of the effectiveness of the hairball control? my male cat has been having a lot of trouble with them as of late, I have had them on blue buffalo weight control for years.
- My cats both had a lot of hairball issues and now they do not. I tried many other hair all remedies and treatments and none helped. I switched from blue buffalo weight indoor weight control to this weight and hairball one and my cats have been so much healthier and their fur is even shinier and softer.

How much success have cats had with actually losing weight? I have tried other weight control foods with no success. Our cat eats once a day with about 3/4 cup of food. She drinks water well too.
- I had to eventually get a food prescription for a different brand that had better metabolic characteristics. I've also began to weigh out the food. Cats lose weight sooo slow, but there has been a decrease after a year or two of trying.

I have three adult cats 3,2,and 1 year olds but have a week old kitten. Once it’s ready for dry food is it alright for it to eat adult food with the other ones?
- A kitten -definitely- needs kitten food. They require a way different balance of nutrients and much higher calories. Think about how much they grow and change in the first year. They need a specific food to fuel that. If you try and put in a little effort, there are definitely ways to keep your cats' foods separate.

- My cat named Kitty has taken over the house; this is a good thing! :-) He is my life! He eats on our dinning room table; we don't eat their; so it's his. His water is in a shallow bowl on a piece of artificial grass and that's on the kitchen counter; it looks like he is outdoors that way. He gets small portions at a time. The dry is a tablespoon at a time and this is done a minimum of 4 times a day. Then he gets a small portion of the Nutro pate perfect portions in 3 different varieties. I put the 3 different varieties together in a plastic container with a lid and a little butter knife to cut and serve in the fridge and I rotate them. His dry food is in one of the shallow glass dishes that Petco sells as an insert for a bowl and I cover it with another glass one. When Kitty is hungry he will push it with his nose or paw and it slides off; then I know he is hungry. That's when I will give him another tablespoon of dry and 1/4 of a section of the Nutro pate on a separate little plate I give him several treats of the Blue crunchy with the soft middle several times a day also. This is a system we have going. Kitty weighs about 10 pounds maybe 11. He is a gray Tabby Mackerel (with the tiger stripes). I am around all day and night to feed him this way. Kitty also runs from one end of the house to the other a lot, I have a tunnel that he runs thru in the hallway. If you can't do something like this than I would try a weight control dry food.... They have the Blue adult weight control; then you can add hairball treats to his dry food. Hope that helps a little....Christine :-)

Which dry food is best for an indoor, seven year old cat, low in calories?
I have two cats one is 5 and the other is 3. Our 5 year old is a little chunky he's around 13lbs and our 3 year old is starting to get chunky hes currently 11 lbs. Do we need to feed them two different foods or is there a food that would work for both to get them to a healthy weight? We are looking into getting Hill's science diet and they are currently eating Blue Buffalo (recommend amounts). I don't have a photo of the 3 year old as he is always on the go playing and being wild.

Hi there. I was thinking about switching my cat to a better quality food. I know the first at least 3 ingredients should be chicken, chicken meal etc vs corn or grains. My cat is 20lbs. Vet told me he should be 16lbs & be on a low fat diet. I don't think his purina pro plan weight mgmt is helping anymore. Fat is 12.5% max in that food. But other foods have more fat. I wonder if a grain free diet would help keep him full longer? How many calories/cups a day he should eat? Worried about weightgain
Dr. Hinson, since blue buffalo has a lot of calories and my male’s weight is steadily increasing (as expected because he is still growing) what food can I use to keep his weight under control because if I leave one cup of kibbles (each) out for them, I’m lucky if they finish it within three days so it’s not like I’m over feeding them plus they get daily exercise so I guess what I’m looking for is a kibble that’s grain free and can help feed my male enough but not get overweight.
We have 1 1/2yr old Ragdoll female. At a steady 8.6 pounds/small frame. Area in front of back legs seems a little skinny. A couple of internet sites seems to suggest IAMS Proactive Health, Healthy Kittens is ok for adults to gain weight in view of it's extra protein and fat. Is that ok for 8.6 lb female.
Hello,my cat initially weighed 16 lbs upon adopting. Now she is 17.6 lbs. Her current diet is Blue Buffalo Nature's Evolutionary Diet Chicken, it is rated as 410 kcals/cup. We have been feeding her 3/4 of a cup (recommended for 14lb cat) with some treats. She is an indoor cat with no known medical issues. On average we try to exercise her ~15 minutes each day but lately she hasn't been as interested with her toys. We are considering lowering her food to 1/2 cup
My cat who has very long hair, keeps throwing up hair balls and some times she doesn't but it will be just undigested dry food. I have her on a sensitive stomach formula from Blue Wilderness.
