Can the Ammonia Bottles kill the fish when you put it in the water?
- You don’t put any of the test solution in the tank! You use the empty test tube to dip 5mm of water from your tank (there’s a line on the test tube at the 5mm mark. Then you put the appropriate number of drops of the test solution into the test tube, as per the written instructions, then cap the test tube with the included cap and shake it to mix the solution with the water you took from your tank.

Do I just let let 8 drops Solutuon 1 and 8 drops Solution 2 to 5 ml of tested water to check result? I always get different readings when I dont shake the tested water when Solution 1 and 2 already mixed.
- Take a test tube, fill with tank water to fill line. Add 8 drops from bottle one, then 8 drops from bottle 2. The directions Specifically say to shake it "vigorously" for 30 secs after after adding drops. It doesn't say, shake it lightly for 28 secs or shake it medium for 15 secs. Shake vigorously for 30 secs then wait 5 mins for result. If it's completely yellow you are mostly likely (but not always) in the clear. Any other color you need to take action. Keep seachem prime as a mandatory in your Fishkeeping arsenal. I would use another brand test to back up results until your sure your bottles aren't defective. Live plants go ALONG way in keeping ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels in check. I hope this helps someone 2 yehars later.

Which nitrate test do I use for a freshwater tank? I saw API has two different ones.
- Thank you for your question. The API Nitrate Test Kit , item number 150214, can be used for both fresh and salt water aquariums.

what should my ammonia levels be in my Betta tank?
- Not 0 as measured by this test kit, can be higher. Maybe .25 or .5 depending on your PH and temp. This test kit test total ammonia, as do most, and not toxic ammonia. You need to test your PH and Temp and use a readily available conversion charge (google it) to determine toxic ammonia. For example, if your total ammonia (result from this test kit) is light lime (.25), temp 79 and PH 8.2 (high), your toxic ammonia is only 0.022. No problem. At PH 7, basically zero.

I tested my salt water tank for ammonia and the results were white. What does that mean?
- It is likely that you didn't mix together both solution bottles and mix it thoroughly enough.

Hello! I was wondering if you could help me out. The internet doesn’t help out to much and the bottle of the test strips doesn’t tell me the ideal amount some of these should be at. So if you could help me out here I would really appreciate it. And please tell me the amount it should be at and if it isn’t ideal how to improve it please and thank you. Hello i have a fish tank 45l with 11 fishes in it (Shubunkin , opaline gourami , honey gourami , trichogaster etc) . i added the fish a week ago and tested the water and it was fine.today i see that 2 of my Scalars aren't eating like everyone else , so i tested the water . Everything was fine except for Nitrite levels that was 3.0 - 5.0 ppm. I changed 25 % of the water and added Easy Life Filter Medium and after some hours i tested again the water quality and it was the same I also added salt
We are new to having aquariums, we really didn't realize so many things played a factor with the water. We currently have a 10 gallon tank but want to increase to a 29 gallon tank. We currently buy gallons of water but with the 29 gallon tank we really don't want to have to do that. We have well water with a salt filter. My levels from to tap was nitrate 10, nitrite 0, hardness 0, chlorine 0, alk 100, ph 7.. is my tap water safe even with the salt filter.
Hi, I just tested my betta tanks water & his ph is good sitting at 7.5. But my alkalinity & water hardness are both very high at 720 ppm (alkalinity) & 300 ppm (hardness). i’m just curious if i should be concerned since my ph is normal
What if you only have freshwater or saltwater what’s more needed
I’m trying to cycle a 10 gal fish tank. I have been adding your biological booster for a month now and nothing is happening. The ammonia is holding steady at .5 ppm and I’m not seeing any nitrites. Is there a way I can test to see if there are actually live bacteria in the booster. I’ve checked everything else I can think of.

I keep axolotl and am having a continuous fungus problem, my water tests are great. I can provide the parameters if I actually speak with someone. It’s been a period of a few months and the fungus keeps coming back. This is just one of them 3 out of 4 have gotten it.
